2008 Housing Design Awards
|
The Housing Design Awards are 60 this year! They are the world's most
enduring programme of rewarding excellence in new homes. They have been a
chronicle of housing innovation and excellence over six decades, recording
the UK's first residential tower, its new towns, the resurgence of
vernacular, the birth of urban regeneration and sustainable design. They
are genuinely cross industry with the support of the key professional
institutes, government and its design, regeneration, funding and regulatory
bodies. The development team behind 60 shortlisted schemes - developer,
planning authority, contractor and architect - are invited to attend Inigo
Jones' Banqueting House for a lunchtime ceremony on 3rd July. Winners are
recognised as a team.
Housing Design Awards are promoted by Communities and Local Government in
partnership with NHBC, the Royal Institute of British Architects and the
Royal Town Planning Institute. Special awards are made in association with
the national regeneration agency English Partnerships, affordable housing
regulator and funder Housing Corporation and CABE, the governmental design
champion.
